So Thankful…

So Thankful…

The other day as I was driving home from the pediatrician, with peace of mind that my little man was okay, I began to think of how thankful I am.

Thankful that I get to stay at home with our little man

Thankful that my husband is willing to work and sacrifice for that gift

Thankful that we are able to provide a comfortable home for our family

Thankful that if anything should happen our family would be there for us…without question

Thankful that we have a healthy baby boy

Thankful that I am loved unconditionably by my husband

Thankful that we are in our marriage for the long haul…No.Questions.Asked

I think when I just get some quiet time to myself…my heart and soul is overcome by all the things I have…all the things I have been blessed with.  Things that I don’t deserve.  Things that are so amazing.  When I look down at my peaceful baby sleeping and I realize how absolutely perfect he is and all the things that had to go right for that to happen…I am just speechless and in awe.

I guess all I can do is thank God for our blessings…everyday 🙂

Psalm 28:7

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

7 The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart exults,
And with my song I shall thank Him.

Made {it} Monday – Bat Dad and Bat Baby T-shirts

Made {it} Monday – Bat Dad and Bat Baby T-shirts

Every weekend my husband gets baby duty in the morning, so Mommy can sleep in a bit.  He gets Baby E up, dresses, feeds, and plays with him.  My Husband has a FAVORITE onsie for our little man.  It is a Batman onsie from Old Navy for 3 – 6 month olds.  Baby E is now almost 9 months old and needless to say Batman is looking less than Stellar on him!  So, I had the perfect idea for a birthday present for my husband.  I had purchased a plain black baby t-shirt at Hobby Lobby a while back and hadn’t done anything with it.  Then I was at Target doing some shopping and saw a distressed Batman T-shirt similar to this.  A little light bulb went off in my head…I will buy my husband the Batman t-shirt at Target and re-create the image for Baby E and they can be matching Superheros!!!  Then I   gotquickly realized they were all out of my husbands size t-shirt.

So…I decided to make my husbands t-shirt too.  Here is what you need to make the men in your life Superheros!!

  • 1.) Men’s Black T-shirt – I used this one {except the V-Neck Version)
  • 2.) Baby’s Black T-shirt – Any Craft Store has them…don’t forget a coupon:)
  • 3.) Freezer Paper {For a Stencil} – I only can find this at Wal-Mart…but it will last Forever!
  • 4.) Yellow Fabric Paint – I got Tulip Matte Finish Because I wanted a distressed look
  • 5.) Scissors, Iron, and Sponge

I first found out how to use freezer paper as a stencil from I Am Momma Hear Me Roar.  Hers is the BEST in depth tutorial on it.

I cut my Batman Stencil out on my Silhouette, but Batman is such a simple design it would be easy to free hand onto the freezer paper.  Once I had ironed the image onto my shirts I got my sponge and paint out.

I squirted some paint onto some left over freezer paper scraps, dipped my sponge and blotted the image on to the t-shirt.  I made sure not to get the paint on too thick to make sure it looked distressed.

Then I removed the freezer paper and VIOLA!  It seriously took like 30 minutes for both t-shirts…and both only cost $12…can’t beat that.

Let me know if you have questions…I didn’t take any pictures of the process…I was in a little hurry to get this one finished!!!

The Bat Family...Baby E was not into it!

Bat Dad, Bat Baby, and a Birthday

Bat Dad, Bat Baby, and a Birthday

This weekend was all about birthdays!  My husbands 31st birthday to be exact.  We have this tradition of doing a family dinner at our house one day and then the Husband wanted a UFC friends party on Saturday.  So, these past few days have been about cleaning, cooking, and entertaining…now that it is Sunday I am exhausted {thankfully Bat Dad got up early with Bat Baby today, so mommy got an extra hour of sleep.}

What I really want to share with all of you today are some of the gifts that Bat Dad got for his birthday.  All the gifts from me were fhandmade.  It was really fun to watch him open them.  I really didn’t know what he would think, but I was thrilled that he genuinely liked them all.

Here is  a quick rundown of Bat Dad’s Loot!

Find Your {Fit} – Marathon Momma

Find Your {Fit} – Marathon Momma

So, a little background on myself.  Fitness is my passion and was once a career.  I have a Bachelor and Masters degree in fitness, but was called to bigger and better things when I became a momma.  Now fitness is my release, my solace, and something that I do for me.

I have done many athletic things in my day.  I have earned my black belt in TaeKwonDo, been a co-ed cheerleader through college and the professional level, ridden over 500 miles on my bike with my dad, done a handful of triathlons, and road runs.  I like challenges that keep me motivated, that challenge my body, and give you a high even when you are thinking you have to quit.

My hope is that Find Your {Fit} will help motivate and inspire all mommas to keep or become fit. I look forward to sharing the things and people that have helped me along the way.  I look forward to having everyone along on the journey as I train for my first marathon that will take place almost exactly 1 year after my beautiful baby boy was born.  I will share the ups, downs, triumphs, and everything else in between!  I hope to answer any questions you have and to help YOU find your {fit}!

Here is my marathon training schedule…to keep myself accountable: MARATHON 2012 🙂

{Thirfty} Thursday – DIY Clorox Wipes

{Thirfty} Thursday – DIY Clorox Wipes

Okay…so I get overwhelmed with all the post ideas in my head.  So much so that I never blog because I feel like there is too much to write about:)  So, I have decided to make myself a little schedule of sorts and why not start on a Thursday…seems much more fun than waiting until Monday!  Thursday I have decided to devote to my new found Thrifty-ness!

My hubby and I are now down to one income since the arrival of Our Little Man and I have noticed how much things cost…and how much they are a TOTAL rip off.  I have started couponing {well cutting out the coupons in the Sunday paper}, shopping at thrift stores {it may take some extra time, but DANG people give away really nice stuff}, and making my own stuff {cleaners, rags, etc}.  It may take some extra time here or there but it is nice to know I am saving moola, using less chemicals, being green, and for some reason it makes things more fun…like cleaning {however looking at our house at the moment you would never realize it}!

Pinterest has become my alli in this shift to thifty-ness.  There are so many neat DIY projects.  My pinboards are overflowing with ideas.  I am sure there are enough projects on my “I will Make you board” to get me through 2012!  One of the first pins I made a reality was making my own Clorox Wipes.  Have you ever noticed how much these little bleach filled towels cost?!  And if you are anything like me you use half the canister to clean your kitchen.  However, I L.O.V.E their convenience.  Love that with a little swipe you have cleaned and disinfected, but like I said I HATE their price, how quickly I go through them, and that I usually have to go over things with Windex after so I get rid of the streaks left behind by the wipe {I am a little OCD with streaks}.  So when I saw this pin I knew I had to try it!  So, off to Target I went.

Let me just tell you that these are the most AMAZING wipes EVER!!!  And Cheap!  They shine and clean all in one!  Idon’t have to use Windex after and my counters look awesome!  They also work great in the bathroom, on the floor, and really anywhere!  Here is what you need…

  • Castille Soap – found at Target.  I got the Lavendar scent.  It is a little price but you only use 2tbs so it will last a Long, Long Time!
  •  Tea Tree Oil– This is a natural fungicide and disinfectant.
  • White Vinegar
  • Water
  • Old Cut Up T-shirts
  • Old Container – I used an old Cascade Tub from Sam’s Club

Follow the Tutorial at One Good Thing for complete instructions.  It takes about 5 minutes!!  Seriously try it…you won’t be disappointed and your wallet will thank you:)

Let me know what you think if you try them!!!  Also visit the Schedule tab on my page to see what I will be posting about:)

A Whole New Year!

A Whole New Year!

Well the holidays are over and we are now officially 6 days into 2012.  Every year I try to make some “resolutions”, or goals, to focus on for the upcoming year, but I have a problem.  I like to perform…I am performance driven.  If things don’t go the way I have planned out I get discouraged.  By discouraged I mean I usually quit, give up, throw in the towel.  That is not how I want it to be…but if it isn’t done right {by my standards}…than why do it at all!  Throw a newborn into the mix, and well, nothing ever actually gets done…in a timely matter, or the way I would like.  So, my goal for 2012 is to be nicer to myself.  To cut myself some slack and to do what I can…after all that is all I can do right??  Along with that…here is what I would like to accompish in 2012 {I use the term like very loosely 🙂 }

1.)  Read the Bible {The whole thing}

2.) Actually be a consistent Blogger – this will be hard.  I LOVE to write on it…I LOVE to craft, but I have a hard time fitting it in.  It is probably last on my priority list.  However with the increased sleep I have been getting thanks to Baby E sleeping better {knock on wood} I feel like I could definately fit in more time.  I feel like I have a lot to offer other women and would love to just be able to bless, motivate, and inspire others.

3.)  Do something for someone else once a month.  Have you ever noticed how great you feel after doing something for someone else??  I love to bless others and want to do that once a month.  Preferably to a stranger.

4.) Run a marathon – for those of you that know me I am a fitness fanatic {one of the reasons I don’t have the time to blog is because I usually use the time I have to workout 🙂 }  however, I have had to rearrange fitness into my life with a baby.  I still get it done, just not as consistently as before.  So, I would like to make a committment to run a marathon {or another 1/2} in 2012…for myself.  To make myself take time just for me!  Running {or cycling}  is a refuge for me.  It is solace in the craziness of life.  I can focus on God’s Country and his abundant blessings in my life.  I get to zone out, not change dirty diapers, sing nursery rhymes or calm a cranky baby and when I am done I feel invincible.  Re-reading this just makes me smile!

5.) Make something Crafty Once a Week – I get a little overexcited sometimes…especially now with Pinterest.  My Things I Will Make board currently has enough things to make up until I die.  However, I love to create.  It makes me feel good and happy inside.  So, instead of getting overwhelemed with things I want to make and then giving up on making anything.  I would love to focus on one project a week…or month depeneding on how much time the project takes.  Especially with my new Silhouette…my wheels are turning!

Alright…I think 5 is PLENTY.  I will keep you all updated on how my New Years “resolutions” are going.  And to any of you veteran Bloggers, with children…how do you make it work????  All advice welcomed!!
